The Abia State Government has officially handed over newly renovated buildings to the Federal College of Education (FCE) Ofeme, Umuahia.
During the handover ceremony, Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, commended the contractors for completing the project on schedule and within budget. He also praised the college management for their dedication to maintaining and upgrading the facilities.
Engr. Emetu emphasized that the renovation was aimed at creating a more conducive learning environment for students while also ensuring a safe and comfortable space for academic activities.
In his address, the Provost of the College, Dr. Titus S. Ezeme, expressed his gratitude to the Abia State Government, led by His Excellency Dr. Alex Otti, for the renovated structures. He described the buildings as more than just physical structures, calling them the foundation for a future centered on academic excellence, professional development, and national transformation. On behalf of the college management and students, he extended heartfelt thanks to all who helped bring their vision to life.
The Chairman of the Governing Council, Haija Rabia Adamu, also expressed her thanks to Governor Otti for his contributions to the project’s success. She described the handover as the beginning of even greater things for the institution and urged stakeholders to collaborate for the smooth operation of the college.
The Registrar of the College, Mrs. Felicia Coman Ibe, joined in expressing gratitude to God for the establishment of the college and to the state governor for his support. She also thanked all those who attended the ceremony.
The ceremony’s highlight was the official ribbon-cutting, conducted by Deputy Governor Engr. Emetu, followed by prayers led by Traditional Rulers from Ohuhu Land.
HRM Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu Oroko Abia, on behalf of the Umuahia North Council of Traditional Rulers, expressed his appreciation to Governor Otti for his significant contributions to the state’s education sector. He noted that the traditional rulers are pleased with the governor’s progress and believe that his achievements will secure him a second term. Eze Ofoegbu emphasized that those with ambitions should wait for Governor Otti to complete his second term to further cement the state’s progress.
