President Bola Tinubu has assigned the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, the responsibility of leading a reconciliation effort in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bauchi State chapter. This initiative aims to resolve long-standing disputes within the party and restore unity among its members.
In addition to Abbas, the reconciliation committee includes key figures such as Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, former House Speaker Yakubu Dogara, Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate) Abdullahi Gumel, and Abbas’ Chief of Staff, Jake Dan-Azumi, among others.
The committee held its first meeting in Abuja on July 31, where they examined the root causes of the crisis, tracing it back to the APC’s 2015 primaries. The team agreed to initiate a fact-finding mission, engaging with key stakeholders such as former Bauchi governors Mohammed Abubakar and Isa Yuguda, Minister of Health Ali Pate, and other influential political figures in the region.
The committee is expected to complete its work within one month and submit its report to President Tinubu for further action.
