A tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday night, May 14, 2025, in Ode-Irele, Ondo State, where a woman reportedly died during an alleged prolonged sexual encounter with her lover at a local hotel.
The woman, believed to be of Urhobo origin and owner of a liquor joint in Ore, the administrative center of Odigbo Local Government Area, had traveled to Ode-Irele to meet her lover, who had earlier checked into a well-known hotel along Gboroye Street awaiting her arrival.
A community source told Hope Newspaper that the couple engaged in extended sexual activity before the woman suddenly became unresponsive around 9:30 p.m. The man raised an alarm and rushed her to the Ondo State Specialist Hospital in Ode-Irele.
Sadly, medical personnel confirmed her death upon arrival, and her body was taken to the hospital morgue.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. The identity of the man involved has not been disclosed, but police are reportedly questioning him as part of their inquiry.
The local coordinator of the Amotekun Corps in Irele, Mr. Joseph Ebisanmi, confirmed awareness of the incident despite not receiving an official report. Meanwhile, the Chairman of Irele Local Government, Deacon Olajide Akinfe, confirmed the woman had come from Ore to visit her lover.
The case has sparked significant community discussion, with many calling for a thorough investigation to establish the exact cause of death.
