An 18-year-old student, Moses Amarks, has been apprehended by police for staging his own kidnapping and demanding a ransom of N50 million from his mother. Moses, a student at the College of Health in Kwamba, Suleja Local Government Area, Niger State, enlisted the help of a friend to call his mother on July 31, falsely claiming that he had been abducted and demanding the large sum for his release.
In response to the call, police from the Maje Division arrested 22-year-old Emmanuel Moses, who was reportedly the last person seen with Moses, as part of their investigation. However, on August 1, officers were able to locate Moses alive and unharmed at Zuba Motor Park in Abuja.
During questioning, Moses confessed that he had orchestrated the entire scheme with Emmanuel and involved his brother, Jetro, who arranged a hideout for them in Karji Village, Sabon-Tasha.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the case, with further actions pending.
