Barr. Nnenna Nmma Lancaster-Okoro, Esq., a distinguished lawyer and former Abia State gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 Nigeria general elections, has felicitated with Ogbako Umunwanyi Igbo Worldwide (OUW) on the occasion of their 2025 Annual August Meeting and the official inauguration of the Abia State branch of the women’s group.
The event, scheduled for Saturday, August 30th, 2025 at El-Borado Hotels and Events Center, Aba Owerri Road, Aba, Abia State, will feature the conferment of traditional titles on deserving Igbo sons and daughters as well as a fundraising drive to build a Motherless Babies Home for vulnerable children in Abia State. The theme for this year’s meeting is “Nwanyi, Ike Obodo” which means “Woman, the Strength of the Society.”
In her goodwill message, Hon. Lancaster-Okoro, who is also billed as Special Guest of Honour, congratulated Ogbako Umunwanyi Igbo Worldwide for their commitment to unity, empowerment, and cultural preservation. She urged members to take up their motherly role in shaping society and to extend their influence into politics, social control, girl-child education, and human capital empowerment.
She emphasized that any society that sidelines women in politics and governance risks imbalance, because the nurturing and stabilizing role of motherhood is missing.
The 2025 August Meeting will also feature prominent personalities including His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, Governor of Abia State (Chief Host), Her Excellency Mrs. Priscilla Otti (Mother of the Day), and several royal fathers led by HRH Eze F. O. Nwosu and HRM Eze Joseph Nwabeke. Other dignitaries expected are His Excellency Achike Udenwa, Chief Chekwas Okorie, and His Excellency Valentine Ozigbo, among others.
Barr. Lancaster-Okoro prayed that the August Meeting would usher in greater development, enlightenment, and a positive shift in societal mindset towards women, affirming that women are indispensable pillars of progress in every society.
