22-Year-Old Arrested for Attempted Rape After Confronting Women Stealing Pepper in Osun
A 22-year-old man has been arrested by the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for allegedly attempting to rape two women he caught stealing pepper from a farm in Ita-Olokan, Osogbo.
The NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Kehinde Adeleke, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Monday, August 11, 2025. According to the statement, although the farm did not belong to the suspect, he confronted the two women and threatened to report them to security operatives unless they allowed him to have sex with them.
One of the women managed to escape, but the suspect allegedly held down the other, physically assaulted her, and attempted to force himself on her. In his confession, the suspect claimed that he had only laid on the victim and ejaculated quickly, fearing that the woman who had escaped might alert others.
NSCDC Commandant in Osun State, Igbalawole Sotiyo, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to combating crime and encouraged residents to promptly report any suspicious activities to the corps. The incident has raised concerns about safety in the community, and the NSCDC continues its investigation.
