Non-indigenes in River State, under the umbrella of the River State Non-Indigenous Front, have reinstated their commitment to support the government of Governor Sim Fubara.
In a recent statement, Dr. Stephen Ukpai (KSJI), the President General of the group, emphasized the significant opportunities that the governor has provided for non-indigenes, highlighting the involvement of Hon. Mrs. Innocencia Chima Peter as the Vice Chairmanship candidate of Ikwerre LGA and Chief Sam Anya’s appointment as Commissioner for Special Duties. These actions, Dr. Ukpai noted, reflect Gov. Fubara’s belief in the contributions of non-indigenes to the state.
Speaking with reporters in Abuja on October 5, Dr. Ukpai, who is also a chairmanship aspirant for Obio/Akpor LGA in the upcoming local government elections, pledged to mobilize the non-indigenous youth across all 23 LGAs to further support the state government. He stated, “I am prepared to win the Chairmanship race in Obio/Akpor LGA, with the backing of non-indigenes, who comprise over 70 percent of the voters in the area.”
Having lived in Obio/Akpor LGA for over a decade, Dr. Ukpai expressed his belief in the potential for a strong partnership between the non-indigenous community and the state government. He assured that they will work within the law to bolster Gov. Fubara’s administration, stating, “We believe in actions… we will do our best to support the government of Sim Fubara.”
In closing, the River State Non-Indigenous Front moved a vote of confidence in Gov. Sim Fubara, reaffirming their dedication to fostering a collaborative relationship that benefits all residents of River State.
