A military personnel named Sudik has been accused of severing the fingers of Abdulrahman Salisu, a shoe seller, at his shop near Jolly Bread in Minna, Niger State, on Sallah day, as reported by The Nation.
Abdulrahman recounted that Sudik came to his shop to buy a pair of shoes, and after completing the transaction, the soldier claimed he had made a payment via bank transfer. However, Abdulrahman informed him that he had not received any payment alert.
The situation escalated when Sudik suddenly drew a cutlass and swung it at Abdulrahman’s head after he insisted on receiving the payment. In a desperate attempt to protect himself, Abdulrahman raised his left hand, causing three of his fingers to be severed.
Sudik, along with two companions, fled the scene after Abdulrahman screamed for help. The victim later reported the incident to the nearest police station.
Sudik has since been arrested by security authorities, while Abdulrahman is receiving medical treatment at IBB Specialist Hospital in Minna.
Meanwhile, traders and shop owners from the Mobil roundabout, Jolly Bread, and Obasanjo Shopping Complex have expressed concerns about the rising incidents of attacks and armed robberies in the area, urging the state government to enhance security measures to address the growing fear among residents.
