The Arochukwu Female Football Competition, hosted by Hon. Ifeanyi Elvis Ogbonna through his Ifeanyi Ogbonna Movement (IOM), continues to captivate the community with thrilling matches. On August 11, 2024, saw Atani face off against Amankwu at the Aggrey C Field in a match that highlighted both skill and determination.

The match kicked off shortly after 4 PM, with Amankwu fielding only nine players against Atani’s full squad of eleven. From the onset, the game heavily favored Atani, whose team comprised several players from the renowned Ego Bekee Football Academy in Amuvi, Arochukwu. This advantage was evident as the Atani players dominated possession and control of the game.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, the Amankwu players fought valiantly in the first half, managing to keep the scoreline at a respectable 1-0. The lone goal of the first half was scored by Okoro Stella, a trainee of the Ego Bekee Football Academy. Amankwu’s defense, though under constant pressure, managed to hold off further goals during the first half, showing remarkable resilience which helped maintain the scores on 1 – 0 throughout the first half.

As the second half began, Atani’s dominance only grew. The professional training and experience of the Ego Bekee Football Academy players became more apparent, as Atani continued to assert their superiority on the field. They added three more goals to their tally, with Okoro Stella scoring her second of the match before being substituted, narrowly missing out on a hat-trick.

The final score stood at 4-0 in favor of Atani, with the match serving as a testament to the quality of training provided by the Ego Bekee Football Academy. The Atani players not only secured a decisive victory but also used the match to showcase their footballing prowess, essentially giving a masterclass to the Amankwu team.

The outcome of this match also reflects the significant impact of having a structured football academy in the community, as it helps nurture and develop local talent. The Ego Bekee Football Academy has proven its effectiveness in training and preparing young athletes for competitive play.
