The Bayelsa State High Court in Yenagoa has issued an interim injunction restraining allies of Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, from organizing a planned mega rally in the state, pending the determination of a motion on notice.
The rally, which was scheduled to take place in Yenagoa on April 12, 2025, has now been halted following the court’s ruling.
The restraining order was granted by Hon. Justice I.A. Uzakah in response to an ex-parte application filed by the Bayelsa State Attorney General, Biriyai Dambo (SAN), under suit number BYHC/YHC/CV/133/2025.
According to the court ruling, “An order of interim injunction is hereby granted restraining the 1st and 2nd defendants—either directly or through agents, allies, privies, or representatives—from organizing, participating in, or facilitating any political rally, meeting, or assembly in Bayelsa State for the purpose of showing solidarity with or celebrating the 2nd defendant, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction.”
The case has been adjourned to April 11, 2025, for hearing.
