Former Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu, has stirred reactions online after publicly declaring his support for the re-election of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North Senatorial District.

In a post shared via Facebook, Uchendu simply wrote: “SENATOR ORJI UZOR KALU IS BETTER.”

Arochukwu Blog gathered that the post has since drawn over 30 reactions and more than 20 comments, with responses split between support for the endorsement and pushback questioning its basis.

Among those who agreed with Uchendu’s position, Orieagha Laragift commented, “No 2 ways about it,” while Chioma Umeh responded with a thumbs-up graphic captioned “right.” Apapa Skido Loveday simply wrote, “Gbam,” and Joseph Uka added, “Alright.” Afunwa Ohafia also voiced support, commenting “Anytime anyday,” while Mazi Chika Art Adiele II wrote “Till tomorrow,” and Chris Jesuitism Chris commented, “Let’s meet at the polls.”

However, other commenters pushed back on the endorsement. Gan Alozie questioned Uchendu directly, writing, “Ifeanyi my main man, Your too big to be National Assembly aide,” before following up with, “Better with what? Unloyalty?” Samuel UD Chukwudi similarly asked, “Better in terms of what?”

Some commenters used the thread to canvass support for other candidates. Samuel UD Chukwudi wrote, “Chief Obinna Ogba Onuoha of Labour Party is the man we want in Abia North senatorial district,” a comment which drew a reply of “Yes oooo” from Chukwu Delights Arinze, and a direct reply from Uchendu himself, though the content of his reply was not fully visible.

Other commenters, including Nene Akajiaku (“Much better”) and Prince Omonla Okagwe, who commented in Igbo, “Nnam ukwu kaa Sir,” also weighed in, with Okagwe’s comment attracting two further replies.

A satirical cartoon image also circulated further down the comment thread, shared by Precious Ijo. The image, a piece of political satire referencing unrelated and unverified claims about manipulated election results and tagging both Uchendu and the Labour Party, drew mixed reactions, with Roland Olugu commenting “100%” and Emerald Eme writing “Bourdex is the best,” while Uka Nnenna responded with a cartoon sticker. Arochukwu Blog notes that the claims depicted in the image remain unverified and unconnected to any confirmed report involving Uchendu.

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, a former Governor of Abia State and the incumbent senator for Abia North since 2019, secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for re-election in May 2026, defeating his lone challenger, Dr Philip Nto, by a wide margin in the party’s primary election. He has since received endorsements from various stakeholder groups within the senatorial district ahead of the 2027 general election.

As reactions to Uchendu’s endorsement continue to trail online, the comments reflect a broader conversation within Abia North over who deserves the senatorial seat as the 2027 election approaches.
