Governor Otti Flags Off Construction of New Omenuko Bridge in Ozu-Abam

On the 4th of February, 2025, Governor Alex Otti officially flagged off the construction of the new Omenuko Bridge in Ozu-Abam, Arochukwu Local Government Area. The bridge, a vital lifeline for over 23 communities across Abam, Arochukwu, Ohafia, and surrounding areas, has long served as an essential connection but had deteriorated over time, necessitating its replacement.

Governor Otti highlighted the importance of the bridge, stressing the commitment of his administration to projects that directly benefit citizens and ensure no community is left behind. He further underscored that the construction of the bridge is part of a broader strategy to improve infrastructure across the state, including the ongoing work on the Ozu-Abam-Ndi Oji-Arochukwu Road.

In addition to the bridge project, Governor Otti announced that the Abam Ring Road and the establishment of a General Hospital for the region had been approved for immediate implementation, aiming to boost transportation and healthcare services for the people of Abam.

This move reflects the administration’s dedication to improving critical infrastructure and addressing key needs in the region. As Governor Otti noted, this marks just the beginning of transformative changes for the people of Abam, with more projects set to unfold in the coming months.

In a Press Release Obtained by Aro Okeigbo Blog through the Official Facebook Page of the Governor, the governor posted as followed,

“We officially flagged off the construction of the new Omenuko Bridge in Ozu-Abam, Arochukwu LGA. The bridge serves as a vital connection for over 23 communities in Abam, Arochukwu, Ohafia, and surrounding areas.

The historic and age-long bridge has been a lifeline for thousands, but due to its deteriorating condition, the necessity for a modern and durable replacement has become urgent. Our administration remains committed to delivering projects that directly impact lives, ensuring that no community is left behind.

We also inspected the ongoing construction of the Ozu Abam-Ndi Oji-Arochukwu Road and reaffirmed our commitment to improving critical infrastructure across the state. Additionally, we have taken note of other pressing needs, including the rehabilitation of the Abam Ring Road and the establishment of a General Hospital to improve healthcare access. These projects have been approved for immediate implementation.

To the resilient people of Abam, this is just the beginning. Together, we can achieve a New Abia!”
