ICAN Nsukka District Society Seeks Collaboration with Maduka University

The Nsukka and District Society of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) recently visited Maduka University to explore potential areas of collaboration aimed at strengthening academic and professional development.

During the visit, the District Chairman, Romanus Abuguja, reaffirmed ICAN’s commitment to fostering mutual cooperation with the university. He emphasized the importance of promoting ICAN activities within the Nsukka community and Maduka University’s academic environment. Highlighting a shared vision, he noted that ICAN has established an Entrepreneurial Development Centre to equip members with essential skills for business success.

Abuguja encouraged the university to leverage ICAN’s expertise in developing its Department of Accountancy, accreditation processes, and other academic collaborations. He also sought the university’s support in sponsoring relevant staff and officers to ICAN conferences and requested goodwill messages, sponsorships, and advertisement placements for the upcoming 19th Eastern Zonal Accountants Conference in Umuahia.

Responding to the proposal, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Ogbulogo, welcomed the initiative and assured ICAN of the university’s commitment to a fruitful partnership. “We will not fail on our part, and I am sure you will not fail too. By combining what we have at Maduka University with your expertise, we can build a strong synergy that is difficult to break,” he stated. He further pledged the university’s support in sponsoring staff and students to ICAN-related events and placing advertisements in the conference brochure.

Accompanying the ICAN District Chairman on the visit were Dr. Jonathan Ogbuabor, Ugwu Alphonsus, and Kelechi Okwurunime, all Fellows of ICAN and staff members of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
