Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, Chief Press Secretary to Abia State Governor Alex Otti, has addressed circulating rumors that live cows, vultures, and tortoises were buried inside the new Government House prior to Otti’s inauguration. Speaking in Umuahia on Friday, May 16, 2025, Ukoha also mentioned claims of harmful incantations aimed at the governor.
He dismissed these stories as mere rumors and stressed that the Otti administration is focused on effective governance rather than the governor’s place of residence. However, Ukoha expressed suspicion over the repeated calls from opposition figures pressuring Otti to move into the new Government House. “I hope it’s not what I’m thinking. Why are these demands coming from the same people? Move to the Government House, move to the Government House,” he remarked, hinting at possible hidden agendas.
While the administration does not believe the rumors, Ukoha pointed out the odd timing of the opposition’s insistence. He also highlighted ongoing renovations at the old Government House, including upgrades to the Secretary to the State Government’s office and the Government House clinic, as part of Governor Otti’s infrastructure improvements.
The Chief Press Secretary praised Otti’s accomplishments, especially the long-overdue rehabilitation of Port Harcourt Road in Aba and repairs to several other deteriorating roads in the city. He emphasized that Abians care more about the governor’s impactful projects than unfounded controversies.
