Former Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu, has extended condolences to the people of Ebem Ohafia and the entire Ohafia clan following the passing of their traditional ruler, HRH Eze Ukoha Kalu Ukoha, the Eze of Ebem Ohafia.

In a post shared on Facebook from Abuja, Uchendu wrote, “It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that I extend my heartfelt condolences to the people of Ebem Ohafia and the entire Ohafia clan over the painful demise of our revered traditional ruler, HRH Ezie Ukoha, the Eze of Ebem Ohafia.”

He described the monarch’s passing as a significant loss to the community and the wider region, writing, “The passing of HRH Ezie Ukoha is a great loss to Ebem Ohafia, the Ohafia clan, and Abia State at large. His departure marks the end of an era for a community that looked up to him for traditional leadership, wisdom, guidance, and the preservation of our cherished cultural heritage.”

Reflecting on the role of traditional rulers, Uchendu wrote, “A traditional ruler occupies a special place in the hearts of his people. He represents the history, identity, customs, and unity of his community. The loss of a respected monarch is therefore not merely the loss of an individual but a painful moment for the entire community he served. His throne may be left vacant, but the memories of his reign and the values he represented will continue to live in the hearts of his people.”

He extended his condolences to the royal family and the wider community, writing, “At this difficult moment, my thoughts and prayers are with the royal family, the Ebem Ohafia community, the traditional institution, and the entire Ohafia clan. I understand that no words can fully heal the pain of losing a father, a leader, and a custodian of our cultural heritage. However, I encourage everyone to draw strength from the legacy he leaves behind and the enduring bonds of unity that hold our people together.”

Uchendu closed the tribute with a prayer for the royal family and the departed monarch, writing, “May God grant the royal family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss, comfort the people of Ebem Ohafia, and grant the departed monarch eternal rest. May the soul of HRH Ezie Ukoha rest in perfect peace, and may his memory remain a blessing to Ebem Ohafia, Ohafia, and Abia State at large.”

HRH Eze Ukoha Kalu Ukoha served as the Paramount Ruler of Ebem Ohafia Ancient Kingdom, during which he was widely recognised for his advocacy on infrastructure and erosion control in Ohafia Local Government Area, as well as his efforts in preserving traditional conflict resolution practices within the community.
