A proud son of Abam, Emeka Baron, has written an open letter to Ike Okoroafor, popularly known as DikeOgu 1, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Arochukwu State Constituency, calling on him to present a clear manifesto ahead of the 2027 general election.
In a post titled “An Open Letter To Ike Okoroafor Dike Ogu Of Abam: Show Us Your Plan For Abam,” Baron wrote, “With the 2027 elections fast approaching, the political atmosphere in Arochukwu Local Government is becoming clearer. The name that keeps resonating among Umu Abam is our son, Ike Okoroafor (DikeOgu1), who is contesting to represent Arochukwu State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly.”
He described Okorafor’s candidacy as a welcome development, writing, “This is a welcome development. Abam has been watching from the sidelines. Seeing our sons step forward to serve is something that gives every Abam youth hope.”
Baron clarified that his letter was not intended as criticism, writing, “As someone who believes in Abam Onyerubi, I am writing this not to attack, not to criticize, but as a proud son of Abam Onyerubi who wants the best for our land. Hon. Ike Okorafor, we want to hear from you. Umu Abam Onyerubi wants to know your manifesto. What is your plan for Abam? We are not asking for too much. We are simple people.”
He then outlined four specific questions for the candidate. On electricity, he asked, “What is your plan for our LIGHT? Abam has been in darkness for years. What is your legislative plan to bring back our light?” On youth empowerment, he asked, “What is your plan for our YOUTHS? Our youths are talented, creative, and hardworking. But there is no empowerment, no skill acquisition. What do you have for us?”
On unity within Abam, he asked, “What is your plan for UNITY? Abam needs unity more than ever. How will you bridge the gap between Ndioji, Ozu, Idama, Ndiokereke, Ameke and all of Abam?” And on the wider constituency, he asked, “What is your plan for AROCHUKWU in general? As someone going to represent the whole LGA, how will you ensure that Abam gets its fair share while also carrying Aro, and all other communities along?”
Baron pressed for substance over campaign rhetoric, writing, “Sir, we are tired of politics of slogans. We want politics of ideas. We want to vote for a plan, not just a name. This is why we are calling on you, Ike Okoroafor Dike Ogu of Abam, to come out and address Umu Abam. Tell us what you want to do. Let us hear your blueprint for Abam Onyerubi.”
He assured the candidate of grassroots support if he responded, writing, “When you show us your plan, we the youths will be the ones to carry it on our heads and preach it from Ozu to Idama, from Ndi Ememe to Ameke. We believe you have the capacity. Now, show us your plan. May Abam succeed.”
The post was signed, “Written by: Emeka Baron – A Proud Son of Abam Onyerubi,” and shared with the hashtag #AbamOnyerubiMustSucceed.
Ike Okoroafor is contesting the Arochukwu State Constituency seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general election, going up against the incumbent, Hon. Uchenna Okoro Kalu of the Labour Party, and the ADC’s Mrs Francess Olisa Ogbonnaya (Tabitha).
