Abia State Governor Replaces Chief Press Secretary Amid Executive Council Reshuffle
Abia State Governor Alex Otti has dismissed his Chief Press Secretary, Kazie Uko.
The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, following a State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Otti on Wednesday.
Kalu Ukoha Kalu has been appointed as the new Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
In June, Governor Otti had ordered the suspension of all Permanent Secretaries in the state’s civil service, including the Head of Service.
This decision followed the launch of the Judicial Panel of Inquiry, which is responsible for recovering state government properties and funds. According to a statement issued by Kazie Uko, who was then the Chief Press Secretary, Lady Joy Maduka, Director of the Ministry of Education, was appointed as the Acting Head of Service (HOS), effective immediately.
Uko also directed that all Permanent Secretaries, except John Pedro Iroakazi, the Clerk of the State House of Assembly, and the Solicitor General, Mrs. U.G. Uche Ikonne, should hand over their duties to the highest-ranking Director within their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, effective immediately.
