In a recent landmark event, the first Eze Aro-In-Council meeting took place, setting the stage for a promising future for Arochukwu Kingdom. His Royal Majesty, Eze Godwin Kanu Idei Kanu Okoro Oke, Eze Aro IX, expressed gratitude to God and Nde Ichie for their continuous support and outlined the positive outcomes of the meeting.
The gathering included esteemed figures such as Eze Ibom Isii, Eze Ezeagwu, and 17 Eze Ogo/Arianzu, all contributing to the success of the deliberations.
However, amidst the hopeful developments, the Kingdom faced an unfortunate incident on Friday, 26th January 2024. Some of Arochukwu’s own attempted to forcefully impose changes on the culture and traditions, impacting the ancient landmarks. Eze Aro IX addressed this incident, urging those involved to consider the essence of Aro and uphold truth in all actions.
“The Council is focused and committed towards a new Aro. Whatever happened was a minor distraction and doesn’t change the status quo. Without fears and contradictions, I remain the IX Eze Aro of Arochukwu Kingdom,” asserted Eze Godwin Kanu Idei Kanu Okoro Oke.
Despite the challenges, the Eze expressed appreciation for the overwhelming support received from the community, emphasizing the importance of unity in realizing the new Aro project. This transformative initiative encompasses education, health, agriculture, technology, and security, showcasing a holistic approach to community development.
Eze Aro IX reassured the public that Aro remains calm, peaceful, and welcoming. He encouraged everyone to go about their normal business, remaining law-abiding and security-conscious. The security agencies are actively involved in maintaining order and safety.
The message concluded with a call for prayers for the country and the State of Abia. Eze Godwin Kanu Idei Kanu Okoro Oke urged the community to uphold the Executive Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti OFR, in prayers for a better and prosperous Abia.
In facing challenges beyond their control, the Eze called upon Nde Ichie to rise and confront those contending with Arochukwu and Umu Aro, echoing the prayers made at Awada Aro Temple, Ukwu Ovo, and Amaikpe.
