Arochukwu, Nigeria – Renowned philanthropist Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Ignes Ogbonna, is set to launch the first-ever female football competition in Arochukwu. Scheduled to begin on Friday, June 21, 2024, at the Aggrey C Field in ASCETA, the event promises to be a significant milestone in the community’s sports and social calendar.

The inaugural male football competition set the stage, followed by a cultural dance competition involving clans from across the Arochukwu Local Government Area (LGA). The Ignes Ogbonna Female Football Competition will kick off with a match between Atani and Amangwu Village. The tournament is structured in a knockout format, progressing through the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and culminating in the finals.

During an interview with Aro Okeigbo Blog, Mr. Chidiebere Excellency, one of the event organizers, highlighted the prizes at stake: 1st Position: ₦1,000,000, 2nd Position: ₦500,000, and 3rd Position: ₦300,000. Additionally, there will be consolation prizes for all participating villages, ensuring widespread recognition and appreciation.
