A wave of terror swept through Isa Local Government Area (LGA) of Sokoto State as notorious bandit leader Bello Turji reportedly killed 12 people “just for fun” while celebrating Eid in Magira village. The incident, which has sparked outrage and fear among residents, was first reported by security analyst Bakatsine in a post on X.
According to reports, Turji organized an elaborate Eid feast in Magira, inviting fellow bandits from neighboring Zamfara State. The gathering, which appeared to be a celebration, soon turned into a bloodbath. After the feast, Turji and his gang moved to Fadamar Lugu, another village in the same LGA, where they mercilessly killed 12 innocent people and left one person severely injured.
Eyewitnesses described the attack as horrifying, with gunmen storming the community without warning, shooting indiscriminately and instilling fear among the villagers. Survivors recounted how the assailants acted with no apparent motive other than to inflict pain and chaos.
Bello Turji has long been one of Nigeria’s most wanted bandits, with a history of orchestrating deadly attacks, mass kidnappings, and violent raids across Sokoto and Zamfara States. His ability to evade security forces while maintaining control over criminal networks has made him a major threat to peace and stability in the region.
Despite government efforts to curb banditry, Turji and his gang continue to operate with impunity, leaving communities in constant fear. Security experts have warned that his growing influence poses a serious challenge to national security, as he has repeatedly outmaneuvered law enforcement agencies.
The massacre has triggered widespread condemnation, with many Nigerians calling on the government to take decisive action against banditry. Residents of Isa LGA are now living in fear, as attacks like these have become all too common in northern Nigeria.
The question remains: How long will innocent lives continue to be lost before decisive action is taken? With Turji still at large, many fear that similar attacks could happen again, unless security forces intensify efforts to bring him and his men to justice.
