In a bold show of strength and internal unity, delegates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have overwhelmingly elected Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, popularly known as Ikukuoma, as the party’s gubernatorial candidate for the forthcoming Anambra State governorship election set for November 8, 2025.
The APC primary, held earlier today, saw Ikukuoma clinch a resounding victory with 1,455 votes, far outpacing his rivals. Mr. Valentine Ozigbo managed 67 votes, Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo scored 26, while Edozie Mmadu came last with 8 votes. Twenty-six votes were declared invalid by the electoral officials.
The landslide win not only cements Ikukuoma’s position as the APC flag bearer but also sends a clear signal that the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and its incumbent, Governor Charles Soludo, could be facing tough times ahead. Political analysts believe the emergence of a popular and influential candidate like Ikukuoma could disrupt the power balance in the state, posing a significant threat to Soludo’s chances of re-election.
Ikukuoma, widely recognized for his philanthropic footprint and business success, has already begun attracting attention and enthusiasm from across the state, especially among party loyalists and grassroots supporters.
Party chieftains and election observers have commended the transparent and peaceful conduct of the primaries, expressing confidence that with Ukachukwu leading the charge, the APC stands a real chance of taking over Anambra Government House come 2025.
With the party ticket now officially in hand, all eyes are on Ikukuoma as he prepares to hit the campaign trail and present his agenda to the people — a development that many say may be the beginning of a new political storm for Governor Soludo.
