The leader of Ngwa Unity Forum, formerly known as Ngwa Rant HQ, has publicly appealed to Governor Alex Otti of Abia State for support for thousands of skilled but underequipped youths across the seven local government areas that make up Ngwa Land.

In a post shared on Facebook and addressed directly to the Governor, Nkemjika Nnadozie Prince, popularly known as Dontorch, wrote, “YOUR EXCELLENCY, Dr Alex C. Otti, Sir, NGWA YOUTHS ARE IN NEED OF YOUR HELP.”

He introduced himself as, “the leader of the largest youth body in Abia State that cut across the 7 LGAs in Ngwa Land, known as NGWA UNITY FORUM (Formerly Ngwa Rant Hq),” and explained his decision to go public with the appeal, writing, “Sir, while I’ve written to you outside this space, i feel it is also necessary i write to you in this space, because it has become very necessary to seek for your support for the Ngwa youths.”

Addressing the possibility that other groups within the state may have similar needs, he wrote, “Sir, while some might argue that Ngwa is not the only clan with youths that need help in Abia, I’ll argue that any other clan that feels they need help should also write to you sir, not to condemn our own approach for help.”

On the scale of the need, he wrote, “Sir, we have over three thousand (3,000) Ngwa youths who have learnt different skills, mastered the skills but Money to either buy the equipments needed to start-up for themselves has become the major issue at hand.” He added that the organisation has “secured series of empowerment machines, business support, bursaries for student and other gadgets needed to support our youths yet, the number keep increasing yearly.”

He listed the specific items currently needed as: sewing machines (manual, industrial, weaving), baking equipment (oven and the rest), welding machines, laptops for those into tech, student bursaries and scholarships, business support in the form of grants and loans, makeup kits, and hairdressing equipment.

“Sir, the above are the things our youths need seriously to upgrade and improve their lives. They’re not lazy, they simply need some push which is why i am making this public appeal,” he wrote.

On the group’s distribution process, he stated, “We have genuine processes of gifting this to the real people that should receive it, therefore, sharing them when we get them can never be an issue.”

He closed the appeal with a direct message to the Governor: “Sir, we look forward to seeing a response with action from you and hope that some of our elder brothers and sisters within the corridor will help this become a reality and not to quench it, because they know truly what our youths are passing through. Thank You and God bless you, Sir.”

Governor Alex Otti has been in office as Governor of Abia State since May 2023. Arochukwu Blog has not independently verified the figures and claims contained in the appeal.
