Nigerian celebrity barman, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has explained his absence from Davido’s highly anticipated wedding in Miami, Florida. In an Instagram post on Saturday, he revealed that his absence was due to long-standing issues with obtaining a U.S. visa.
Sharing his emotions about missing the wedding, Cubana Chief Priest said, “I woke up this morning with mixed feelings. I’m happy, and I’m still sad at the same time.” He expressed that while he felt joy for the couple, the challenges of life had reminded him of human limitations, despite his personal success.
Cubana Chief Priest also shared a video from Davido’s traditional wedding in Lagos in 2024, reflecting on the disappointment he felt at missing his best friend’s special day. He went on to address criticism over his absence, stating, “I appreciate the bashing because that has given me multiple reasons and proofs to apply again.”
He directed his frustration towards the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria, saying, “#usinnigeria do it for me this time. You can clearly see how disappointed and hurt the world is to see me absent at my best friend’s wedding. You need to give me access to get my fat ass into America. Well, delay is never denial — CP is still hopeful.”
Despite his absence, Cubana Chief Priest reassured his followers that his wife and family were present at the wedding to represent him. He wrote, “The largest part of me, which is my family, my beautiful, elegant, expensive, eloquent and sophisticated wife #_deangels, is there to share in this luxury blissful experience. So I’m there in body and spirit.”
He also wished Davido and Chioma a blissful marriage, writing, “I’m wishing my best friend #davido and his beautiful wife #thechefchi an amazing wedlock.”
Cubana Chief Priest reiterated his intention to reapply for a visa next week, adding, “#usinnigeria I’m in again next week. Please give me access to the greatest country in the world. This pain is really paining.”
Earlier in January, he had revealed on Channels TV’s Rubbin’ Minds that errors made on his first visa application, filled out by someone else when he was younger, had caused ongoing issues in the U.S. immigration system. Despite these setbacks, he remains hopeful that he will soon be granted access to the United States, a place he describes as a dream destination.
Meanwhile, Davido and Chioma’s pre-wedding celebration in Miami was attended by a host of celebrities and close friends, making for a memorable start to their journey together.
