Hon. Okoro Uchenna Kalu, the Labour Party lawmaker representing Arochukwu State Constituency, has broken his silence on growing criticism from political opponents, insisting that his administration remains focused on service delivery rather than distractions.
In a post shared on Facebook, Kalu wrote, “We understand that most of our opponents are using us to gain visibility on Facebook by mentioning our name for the wrong reasons. We are never perturbed because we understand the season we are in now.”
He explained that his priority remains the people at the grassroots rather than engaging critics point for point. “The most important thing is that our people at the grassroots appreciates our efforts and that of our Ekwueme Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti and are willing to show us that support once more,” he stated.
Kalu backed up his position with a quote from former U.S. First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, writing, “‘Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.'”
He closed the post on a note of resolve, simply adding, “We will do more!”
Alongside the message, Kalu shared a video showing constituents singing his praises and commending his contributions to the community, which many observers have interpreted as a deliberate move to counter the wave of criticism trailing his performance in office. The post was also accompanied by a photograph believed to have been taken during a grassroots engagement, showing residents in the constituency’s traditional attire.
Kalu is currently seeking re-election for a second term as the Arochukwu State Constituency lawmaker on the platform of the Labour Party, and is expected to face stiff competition from Prince Ike Okorafor of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general election.
