Prince Ike Okorafor, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Arochukwu State Constituency, has marked his birthday with a heartfelt message addressed to his constituents, pledging accountability and service ahead of the 2027 general election.
In a post shared on Facebook, Okorafor wrote, “ON MY BIRTHDAY, I MAKE ONE PROMISE: I WILL NEVER FORGET WHY I STEPPED FORWARD. Today, I celebrate another year of life with a heart full of gratitude to God and an even deeper sense of responsibility to my people.”
He continued, “Life has given me many blessings, education, professional experience, opportunities at home and abroad, family, community, and the privilege of witnessing what purposeful leadership can achieve. But I have come to understand that blessings are not measured only by what we receive. They are measured by what we are willing to give back.”
Rather than requesting gifts on his birthday, Okorafor said he was instead asking for the opportunity to serve. “And that is why, on my birthday, I am not asking for gifts. My gift is the opportunity to serve,” he wrote.
Addressing his constituents directly, he made a specific promise to the five clans that make up the constituency. “To the people of Abam, Arochukwu, Ihechiowa, Isu and Ututu, I make this promise: I will never ask you to compromise your standards of accountability because you support me. Question me. Challenge me. Audit me. Demand results from me. And when the time comes, judge me by the same standard by which I ask you to judge anyone entrusted with your mandate,” he wrote.
He further stated, “I am not stepping forward because I need a title, a salary or political relevance. I am stepping forward because I believe our people deserve leadership that is accessible, accountable and genuinely committed to development.”
Okorafor also emphasised unity across the constituency, writing, “Arochukwu State Constituency belongs to all five clans. No community should be forgotten. No young person should feel politically invisible. No village should have to beg for what should be its fair share of development. Our politics must become bigger than personalities, families, friendships and political camps. It must be about people. It must be about service. It must be about results.”
He described his birthday wish as building “an Arochukwu where leadership is earned through service, development is fairly distributed, public officials are accountable to the people, and every young person can look towards tomorrow with hope,” adding, “I offer myself to that cause. Not as a perfect man. But as a man willing to work, listen, learn, speak for his people, accept correction, give account and remain faithful to the responsibility entrusted to him.”
He closed the message with a prayer for wisdom and humility in leadership, writing, “May God grant me the wisdom to lead, the courage to stand for what is right, the humility to listen, and the strength to serve without losing sight of why I began. Happy Birthday to me,” and signed off as “Prince Ike Okorafor, DikeOgu 1 of Abam.”
Okorafor is contesting the Arochukwu State Constituency seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general election, going up against the incumbent, Hon. Uchenna Okoro Kalu of the Labour Party, who is seeking re-election for a second term.
