The eagerly anticipated Arochukwu Food and Drinks Festival 2024, a flagship event by the Arochukwu To The World Project, was officially unveiled during a momentous ceremony held at the distinguished Arochukwu Civic Center. This unveiling marked the commencement of preparatory activities for the event, involving a comprehensive address to the press and the dissemination of crucial details to the public.
The genesis of this much-anticipated occasion traces back to November of the preceding year when Obasi Praise Genesis, the Director General of the Arochukwu To The World Project, first disclosed the event on his social media platform. Subsequently, an escalating sense of anticipation has enveloped the Umu Aro community, prompting an eagerly awaited press conference and unveiling.
During the press conference, Director General Obasi Praise Genesis expounded on the genesis of the idea, attributing it to the “Show Arochukwu to the World Campaign,” an initiative he initiated almost a decade ago. Emphasizing the importance of positioning Arochukwu on the global stage, he highlighted the campaign’s primary objectives of projecting and promoting tourism alongside the cultural heritage of Arochukwu. Genesis underscored Arochukwu’s pivotal role in Igbo and Nigerian history, articulating the necessity of introducing programs that safeguard and promote its rich cultural assets, with food as an indispensable component. “Our plan is to extend a global invitation to our food table, orchestrating an irresistible culinary showcase over two days, allowing attendees to immerse themselves in the flavors of Aro Okeigbo. Through the collective expertise of our assembled team, we are poised to deliver an unparalleled experience by the grace of God,” he elucidated to our correspondent.
The press conference served as a platform to unveil a diverse array of activities slated for the event. These include a cooking competition, food exhibition, food tasting, Avia Nkwo Trade Fair, cultural displays, sip and paint, music, dance, comedy, and an array of other engaging offerings. The comprehensive lineup aims to cater to diverse interests and create an immersive experience for attendees.
Additionally, the occasion witnessed several partners and sponsors expressing their commitment and support for the project, further amplifying the significance and reach of the Arochukwu Food and Drinks Festival 2024.
Among the distinguished attendees gracing the guest list were Hon. Chimereze Okeigbo, the Special Adviser to the Abia State Governor on Internally Generated Revenue, Mazi Chukwuemeka Maduagwu, Mazi Ike Onu (Ugwu Aro), Capt. Kelechi Okoronkwo, Hon.
