Amoba Village in Arochukwu to Disconnect from Obinkita Transformer as Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa Donates 500KVA Transformer
In a landmark development for Amoba Village, located in Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State, Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa has donated a brand-new 500KVA transformer to the community — the first in its history. This significant intervention marks a crucial step toward ending decades of unreliable electricity supply that have plagued the area.
Prior to this donation, Amoba Village had no dedicated transformer and was forced to share an already overstretched supply source with neighboring Obinkita Village. This arrangement resulted in persistent issues of low voltage and frequent blackouts, plunging residents into prolonged periods of hardship and severely affecting both domestic life and local businesses.
Moved by passionate appeals from the Amoba Development Union President and other key stakeholders across Arochukwu, Hon. Osonwa responded swiftly and decisively. The delivery of the 500KVA transformer is a testament to his commitment to grassroots development, community empowerment, and improving the living conditions of his constituents.
Beyond addressing Amoba’s immediate needs, Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa has continued to demonstrate a broader commitment to enhancing electricity infrastructure across the region. In collaboration with the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, he is also leading efforts to fully restore electricity supply to Ohafia communities in Ohafia LGA. Despite facing setbacks caused by widespread vandalism of power installations, both leaders remain steadfast in their mission to deliver sustainable, reliable electricity to the people.
The impact of this intervention in Amoba Village is expected to be profound. Once the new transformer is fully installed and operational, it will significantly boost electricity supply across the community, enhancing daily life, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, promoting economic activities, improving educational and healthcare services, and generally raising the standard of living for residents. Businesses that rely on electricity — such as welding workshops, cold rooms, barber shops, cybercafés, and retail stores — will now be able to operate more efficiently, creating more employment opportunities and stimulating local economic growth.
This donation symbolizes a new era of responsive and people-centered leadership in Arochukwu and Ohafia Local Government Areas, setting a standard for future infrastructural developments across the region.
