The Rivers State Government has declared the cancellation of all ongoing procurement and tender processes in line with a recent Supreme Court ruling.
This announcement was made by Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd), the state’s sole administrator, through a statement issued by Prof. Ibibia Worika, the Secretary to the State Government, in Port Harcourt on Thursday. The move follows the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the Court of Appeal’s judgment in Suit No. CA/ABJ/CV/133/2024.
Ibas confirmed that the cancellation affects all procurement and tender processes conducted by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) during the specified period. He instructed all MDAs involved in these transactions to promptly return any tender fees paid by contractors.
The administrator further advised the agencies to await additional instructions from the state government, which will issue a revised spending plan in due course.
