A Facebook post celebrating the English proficiency of Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha, popularly known as Chief Bourdex, has drawn widespread reactions online, with commenters split between admiration for his oratory and questions about his record in public office.

The post, shared by Dimgba Ejieke, read: “I thought I had mastered the use of English until I encountered Chief Bourdex.”

Arochukwu Blog gathered that the post drew 60 reactions, 54 comments and was shared twice within a day.

Many commenters praised Chief Bourdex’s command of English. Uche Nwagbo commented, “That man is not a human while speaking English. I think, there’s a special machine which nature planted into his mouth. Nwoke di too much!” Godwin Egbiri wrote, “Chief Bourdex is an Orator, I love his personality.” Onuoha Gov Ojisi commented, “His eloquent verbosity is highly admirable,” while Itoro Vincent wrote, “The man has a special grace with the use of words.” Emmanuel Awah commented, “Am wondering if chief Bourdex is the encyclopedia we were been told during our secondary Education,” and Lekkiprophet Endwell simply wrote, “The man is something else.”

Peter Agba Kalu also praised Chief Bourdex at length, writing, “Masterpiece of the gods. It’s difficult to see a good orator and Shakespearean pencraft, but in one embodiment you have it in the great Ugo’Ena of Abiriba. When the gods gifted His people, He gives them David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex as a leader.” Ogba Mark commented, “Bourdex all way,” Stephen Ukpai Ukwa wrote, “That’s billionaire English,” Gabriel Ogbonna commented, “Erudite professor,” and Lucy Ananso wrote, “Truly, Chief is exceptionally brilliant and highly lettered. Sometimes when I read him, I stand in awe and wow’d.” Akim Nwojo commented, “But Chief is Acada tested,” while Ukaku Agbai Mang added, “He delivers his speeches not from scripts.”

However, not all reactions focused solely on his English. Elijah A. Igbani commented, “The man is lettered,” to which Emmanuel L. Ekwueme responded, “Is that one of the qualities of a good leader?”

Uduma Stephen commented, “They no dey go Senate go speak grammar. It is about experience, capacity, connection and party affiliation,” a comment that drew four replies, including one from Emmanuel Jonah Kalu, who wrote, “We might as well use it for his campaign too. Good one.”

Emmanuel Jonah Kalu also raised questions about Chief Bourdex’s record in office, commenting, “I think you should be telling us what he achieved as a mayor. If there is none, you might as well tell us why and measures being put in place to avoid such outcome again.”

Chief Bourdex previously served as Caretaker Chairman of Ohafia Local Government Area. Arochukwu Blog gathered that his tenure in that role has recently drawn scrutiny following a report by City Post, in which a group identified as the Abia Human Rights Initiative called for the arrest and prosecution of Chief Bourdex over an alleged assault on an Ohafia-born civil servant, Kalu Elekwa, said to have occurred at the Ohafia LGA secretariat during his tenure as caretaker chairman. Arochukwu Blog has not independently verified the claims contained in that report.

Other commenters weighed in with mixed views on the broader senatorial contest. Mba Dinneya Emmanuel commented, “He spoke fluently. I adores his oratory gifts but OUK till 2031,” referencing incumbent Senator Orji Uzor Kalu. Kala Dinero simply commented, “Stop!!!” which drew three replies, while Oju Ndukwe Uka commented, “He is good.” Madukwe Emmanuel commented, “Promote your payer.”

Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha, widely known as Bourdex, is the Labour Party candidate for Abia North Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general election, running against the incumbent, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu of the All Progressives Congress, who is seeking re-election.
