A Facebook post questioning the performance of Hon. Uchenna Okoro Kalu, member representing Arochukwu State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, has generated reactions online, with residents divided over his record ahead of the 2027 general election.
The post, shared by Orji Grace alongside a photograph of the lawmaker, read: “Is he working? What has he done for Arochukwu people so far? Make Una talk fast fast.”
Arochukwu Blog gathered that the post drew a wide range of comments, with opinions split between residents who believe the lawmaker has underperformed and others who say he is working, though largely on legislative matters rather than physical projects.
Among those critical of his performance, Ben Okereke commented, “Noooo. If any one can mention 7 significant project he has done for the aro people, 10k for the person.” Favour Osita Nwosu wrote, “He is doing nothing. He is the representing his pocket. No infrastructure, no impowerment and no capital development, which is human development.” Uchechukwu A Ijoma commented, “He has done absolutely nothing,” while Comrd Ejimofor Ozoemelam wrote, “This man no dey work anything abeg.” Chuks Fame commented, “You called him a millionaire. You wan make em money finish,” and Bishop Chukwuemeka wrote, “Even him people no like am.”
Nwankemdu Oti commented, “Please anybody that knows him should help him and tell him that there is no road for the next election if he likes let him carry Oti poster and so clothes no matter what we come vote for him it doesn’t deserve that sit again never.”
Kelvin Ikwuagwu offered a more detailed assessment, commenting, “Am American political scientist once says you should not ask what your society can do for you but what can you do to your society that will stand as legacy. If Uchenna Okoro was a maniority member in the house that would have been a different case but majority leader in the house but not legacy, voted him in 2023 with obi and Otti influence a law maker who can not bost of 1 kilometer road or bus s… [more].”
On the other side, some commenters defended the lawmaker’s record. Comr Frank Eme Orji commented, “He is performing.” Uzoma Onwuzuruigbo wrote, “This yound man is doing great.” Oluebube Okereke commented, “I think he’s working. I have seen some bills he has proposed and passed into law, but physically projects that I don’t know.” Nnenanya Martins described him as “the best among others” in a separate comment, and also pushed back on other critics, writing, “You guys are doing this because his not from your side right, when you’re brother that left there what has he done in our clan? He only work in his ward what about other 2 wards so the current person is even doing something in ututu, new market Aro, NDI owuu ibom and other places in his town.”
Other commenters added shorter reactions. Uche Ndu commented, “Is like you are from my side,” to which the post’s author, Orji Grace, replied, “yes.” Moses Uchechukwu Oji commented, “Good question.” Sentima Okoro wrote, “make e no cm arochukwu oo we dn no him.”
Hon. Uchenna Okoro Kalu has represented Arochukwu State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly since 2023 and currently serves as Majority Leader of the 8th Assembly. He recently obtained his nomination and expression of interest forms as the Labour Party’s consensus candidate for re-election in the 2027 general election.
