A Nigerian lady has stirred major buzz on social media after demonstrating an unusual but inventive way of cooking stew using an electric iron due to a lack of cooking gas.

In a now-viral TikTok video, she documented how she managed to prepare the meal from scratch, a process that took her about six hours. The video began with her showing her face before revealing the electric iron, which she cleverly positioned beneath a pot to act as a heat source.

She captioned the clip with a warning to viewers, saying, “Don’t try this if you don’t have patience, because it took about 6 hours.” The video drew widespread attention for its creativity, though it also sparked safety concerns.

Reactions from viewers came in quickly. One user, REAL MEN DONT TALK, asked, “Didn’t you get shocked by the electric?” Another, Bigbabyyyyy, questioned, “Was the shoe necessary?” Wilson Efya Blackei commented, “Cause of fire outbreak… It’s not safe, my dear.” Others criticized the method entirely, with GodIsGoodoK1 saying, “Next thing we’ll hear is an explosion. People will follow blindly too,” while Love Dee802 suggested, “Why not just buy charcoal or borrow a coal pot from your neighbors?”

Though many applauded her creativity and determination, others were more concerned about the obvious fire hazards and electrical risks of using an iron for cooking. Safer alternatives like borrowing cooking utensils or using charcoal were recommended by some viewers.

Despite the backlash, the video has captured wide interest and sparked conversations about survival hacks, safety, and how far people are willing to go when dealing with everyday challenges.
