The much-anticipated Arochukwu Female Football Competition, hosted by the Ifeanyi Ogbonna Movement (IOM), has officially resumed today following a suspension due to irregularities. After thorough checks and corrections of the teams that had hired external players, the tournament is back on track with nine villages continuing from the original twelve that started before the postponement.
Today’s match saw Agbagwu face off against Ibom in a highly competitive game at the Aggrey C Field in ASCETA. The match was evenly contested, with both teams demonstrating their best skills and strategies in a 50/50 possession game.
Ibom took the lead 20 minutes into the first half, scoring the first goal of the match. However, Agbagwu quickly responded with an equalizer just four minutes later. Despite numerous attempts by both teams, the score remained 1-1 through the rest of the first half and the entire second half.
With the match tied at the end of regular time, it proceeded to a penalty shootout. Ibom managed to score three out of their five penalties, while Agbagwu scored two out of five, resulting in a victory for Ibom.
