Gunmen Storm Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Family Residence in Kogi

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s family home in Obeiba-Ihima, Kogi State, was attacked on the night of Tuesday, April 15, 2025, by unknown gunmen who reportedly believed she was present at the location.

In a statement issued by her team on Thursday, it was confirmed that the attackers vandalized windows in the house belonging to her late grandfather. The situation was quickly brought under control by a joint effort involving the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and vigilant community members, who repelled the attackers. No one was harmed during the incident, and a formal report was filed with the area police command.

The senator’s camp suspects the attack may be connected to her recent confrontation with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, whom she accused of sexual harassment. This came in the wake of her suspension from the Senate in March 2025 over allegations of misconduct—claims she strongly denies. They have urged the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to immediately reinstate her withdrawn security detail for her safety.

Providing further insight into the incident, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan shared: “Two days ago, my younger brother led contractors to inspect sites in Ihima for projects I attracted to the district. The attackers may have assumed I was in town and targeted my family home later that night. Thankfully, the civil defence team and local residents were able to intervene and force them to flee.”

As of now, the police have not released any official statement regarding the ongoing investigation or the potential reinstatement of the senator’s security team.
