Hon. Ibe Osonwa Visits Isu Clan, Meets Traditional Rulers, and Distributes Food Items
The Isu Clan in Arochukwu Local Government Area (LGA) experienced a remarkable event as Hon. Ibe Osonwa, the Member Representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, visited the community. His visit included engagements with the Isu Council of Traditional Rulers and the distribution of essential food items to residents.
During his meeting at the palace of Eze Augustine Igwe, the traditional rulers lauded Hon. Ibe Osonwa for his efforts in addressing the challenges faced by the community. Eze Ogo Benedict Kalu Okore specifically urged Hon. Ibe to prioritize restoring peace and reopening the federal road linking Isu with neighboring communities. The road has remained closed due to unresolved boundary disputes involving Isu in Arochukwu LGA, Ukwa in Odukpani LGA, and Utuma in Biase LGA, all in Cross River State.
Other notable figures, including HRH Eze Mortimor K. Ogbonnaya, HRH Eze Augustine Igwe, and Hon. Nicholas Igwe, echoed the need for a swift resolution of the crisis. They called on Hon. Ibe to expedite measures to restore peace and ensure the safety of residents.
In his response, Hon. Ibe Osonwa highlighted his ongoing efforts to resolve the boundary disputes. He disclosed that meetings have been held with the Deputy Governors of Abia, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom States, emphasizing plans for the National Boundary Commission (NBC) to carry out a proper delineation of the disputed areas.
Regarding development projects, Hon. Ibe assured the community of interventions before 2026, while also pledging to facilitate the reopening of the road. He further stated plans to engage the Commissioner of Police to increase security personnel in Isu and establish a permanent security base in the area.
