Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Don-Norman Obinna, the Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abia State, has issued a bold warning to political figures across the state: “Join ADC or face defeat.” Speaking during a strategic meeting in Aba with the Abia South chapter of the Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM), Obinna made it clear that candidates outside the ADC platform in the upcoming elections would be doomed to failure.

According to Obinna, the ADC has surpassed all other political parties in the state and is rapidly gaining ground as the people’s preferred choice. He stressed that the current political climate, both in Abia and across Nigeria, has left many citizens disillusioned and desperate for change.

“I don’t care who you are in this state. If you’re not in the ADC by 2027, you will lose. Whether you’re a Governor, Senator, or an Assembly member,” Obinna declared confidently.

While acknowledging that the ADC is not driven by a desperate thirst for power, Obinna assured that the party’s rise is inevitable, fueled by the widespread dissatisfaction with the existing leadership. He dismissed rumors of internal strife within the party, attributing such gossip to political rivals who fear the ADC’s growing influence.

Obinna further revealed that by December 2025, the ADC will have brought on board more than five sitting governors and over 20 lawmakers, strengthening its national profile. “The fear of ADC is the beginning of wisdom. Our national leadership is strong and united,” he remarked.

The ADC’s national membership, he claimed, currently exceeds 50 million, positioning the party as a major political force. Taking a swipe at the Labour Party, Obinna asserted: “If you think the Labour Party has done well here, you still don’t know what real leadership is. Our power comes from the people, and it’s in the streets.”

In a significant development, COPDEM has officially aligned with the ADC, solidifying their partnership for the 2027 elections. Pastor Prince Solomon, the Chairman of COPDEM in Abia, confirmed the alliance, emphasizing that both organizations share a common vision of promoting good governance and voter education.

“Our Board of Trustees aligned with ADC long ago. We’re not here just to watch. We’ve been tasked with the Directorate of Mobilisation and Socio-Political Gathering within the party,” Solomon said, underscoring their commitment to building a robust movement that prioritizes the people’s welfare and champions credible leadership.

As the 2027 elections approach, the ADC’s growing momentum in Abia promises to shake up the political landscape, signaling a shift toward a new era of leadership.
