In a decisive move to align with prominent political figures and strengthen its position, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) has announced its intention to adopt several key leaders across various levels of government. This announcement was made during a stakeholders and leaders meeting at Guaver Eateries in Amaekpu Ohafia.

Hon. Dr. Stephen Ukpai Ohafia, the YPP House of Representatives candidate for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in the 2023 elections, led the discussions, emphasizing the party’s commitment to supporting elected leaders who champion infrastructural development, good governance, and human capital development.

“On this note, I want somebody to move a motion in support of the government at the state level led by His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, the Executive Governor of Abia State, and our brother His Excellency, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, his Deputy,” Hon. Ohafia stated. He also called for motions to support President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and Vice President Alhaji Shettima, along with Hon. Chief Ibe Okwara Osonwa and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

These motions were quickly moved and adopted, reflecting the YPP’s strategic decision to build alliances with these influential figures. Pastor Success Okorie, in a show of solidarity, moved a motion adopting Hon. Dr. Stephen Ukpai Ohafia as the leader of the YPP family in Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency and Engr. Enyinnaya Nwafor as the state leader of the party. He also proposed a vote of no confidence in unspecified individuals, signaling a clear intent to streamline leadership within the party.

The meeting underscored the YPP’s dedication to fostering a united front, urging former PDP members to join their cause for a more prosperous Abia State and Nigeria. The event marked a pivotal moment for the YPP as it continues to position itself as a formidable force in the political landscape.
