In a landmark humanitarian gesture, The Oscar Chukwuma Okoro Foundation has awarded 250 fully funded scholarships to pupils from primary schools across all clans in Arochukwu Local Government Area, enabling them to participate in the 2025 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE).
The examination, scheduled to take place on June 4, 2025, serves as the qualifying test for admission into Federal Government Colleges (National Unity Schools) across Nigeria. Beneficiaries who succeed in the exam will be placed in these prestigious institutions, granting them access to quality secondary education.
This scholarship intervention, which cuts across various communities in the LGA, reinforces the foundation’s commitment to educational empowerment and social equity. Founded by Mazi Barr. Oscar C. Okoro and Family, the foundation has consistently worked to uplift underprivileged communities through education, healthcare, disaster relief, and community development programs.
Beneficiaries were carefully selected from schools such as:
• Community Primary School, Ndị Oji Abam
• Ndị Okereke Abam Primary School
• Ihe Central School, Obinto
• Umuzomgbo Community Primary School, Ihe
• Atani Primary School, Arochukwu
• Obinkita Primary School
• Eze Akuma Primary School, Agbagwu
• Ututu Central School, Ututu
• Slessor Primary School, Arochukwu
• Obiene Community Primary School, Ututu
• …and many others across the LGA.
A few of the excited beneficiaries couldn’t hide their joy. Obasi Goodluck Ogor, one of the scholarship recipients, said:
“This scholarship means everything to me. My dream of attending a Unity School now feels possible. I’m grateful to the Foundation for believing in children like us.”
Another beneficiary, Ejekam Comfort Kali, added:
“I’ve always wanted to go to Federal Government College. This opportunity has given me and many others a chance we never thought we’d have. Thank you, Oscar Chukwuma Okoro Foundation.”
Okoroafor Favour Friday echoed the same sentiment:
“We are so happy and grateful. This has changed our lives and given us hope for a better future.”
The Director-General of the Foundation, Engr. Uche Adimoha, emphasized that this scholarship drive was designed to be inclusive and impactful, touching every clan in Arochukwu.
“This is only the beginning,” he said. “We are building a future where no child is left behind because of poverty or lack of opportunity. We will continue to empower lives, one child at a time.”
Parents, school heads, and community stakeholders have praised the Foundation for its transparency, inclusiveness, and compassion. The Oscar Chukwuma Okoro Foundation has pledged to make this scholarship initiative an annual event, while continuing other life-transforming programs in the areas of health, disaster relief, and economic development.
